The Garden-Suburb Hot Water Story
A suburb on its third tank
Aspley was laid out as a garden suburb from a 1952 subdivision, and the big wave of building ran through the 1960s and 1970s. Houses of that vintage have been through one storage unit after another, so the cylinders failing now are standing in for earlier replacements, many of them outdoors against a single-level wall.
Steel pipe behind the oldest walls
Where a 1950s house has never been repiped, old galvanised steel supply pipe may still sit inside the walls, its bore furred with scale that chokes flow and tints the water.
Creek flats and the storm months
Two creeks, Cabbage Tree and Little Cabbage Tree, wind across the suburb's low middle, and the council's mapped creek-flood zones are broadest on that ground. Storms from November to March hit those flats hardest, and the rain gauge averages 1,073 mm across a year.
Sizing for these households
At the last census, 72.1 per cent of the 5,076 dwellings were separate houses, 39.4 per cent held four bedrooms or more, and the typical household was 2.4 people, so Geebung Same Day Hot Water sizes most tanks for a family.
Hot Water Jobs For These Streets
Geebung Same Day Hot Water quotes each of these as a fixed price before a booking is locked in:
- Hot water repairs: elements, thermostats and valve faults in the postwar housing.
- No hot water: the safe checks first, then the likely cause, cheapest fix first.
- Hot water replacement: when a third-cycle cylinder finally rusts through.
- Hot water installation: a fresh system for a renovation, extension or new build.
- Gas hot water: storage cylinders and continuous flow models on natural gas or LPG.
- Electric hot water: off-peak storage tanks running on the existing supply.

Frequently Asked Questions
Call (07) 3523 1856Do the oldest Aspley houses still run galvanised supply pipes?
Some unrenovated 1950s homes do, and the scale inside that steel pipe throttles flow and stains the water, so we test pressure and pipe condition before quoting any tank work.
Does council flood mapping around Cabbage Tree Creek affect a tank install?
It can, because the low ground beside both creeks sits inside mapped creek-flood zones, so on those blocks we stand the tank and its valve gear above the council's levels.
Do many Aspley homes run heat pump hot water?
Plenty do, with 1,550 heat pump installs recorded across the postcode and frost close to unknown on this low ground, so a compressor unit handles the winters here without trouble.
Is a leaking tank a job for Urban Utilities?
No, the tank sits on your property, so the repair or the swap is ours; Urban Utilities only enters the picture for supply or metering faults beyond the property boundary.
Is roof solar viable on the older Aspley houses?
Usually, because the detached homes of the 1960s and 1970s mostly carry the roof space, and 1,673 solar hot water systems are logged across the postcode, though roof direction and shade settle the spot.
How do I book a hot water replacement in Aspley?
Ring (07) 3523 1856 with the tank's rough age and the symptoms you are seeing, and Geebung Same Day Hot Water books the changeover with the fixed price settled before we start.
